Rep's Diverse Choice
Geelong Repertory Company launched its 2010 Theatre Season at its Woodbin Theatre with an afternoon remarkable for Rep's customary warmth and hospitality. Following a short, moving ceremony to inaugurate five new life members in Sheila Dawson, Geoff Gaskill, Vonnie Pilgrim, Ros Romney (pictured above) and Robert Trott, the Company unveiled its 78th season - a five-play list for the forthcoming year.
The Woodbin 2010 season runs from February to December and it strikes a neat balance between classic and fun, drama and comedy, old and new with two dramas, two comedies and a comedy drama. It includes plays set in the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 80s. The plays are: A View From The Bridge written by Arthur Miller and directed by Judy Ellis (50s); The Cripple of Inishmaan, an Irish black comedy directed by Jon Pedler (30s); The Woman In Black, a tense ghost drama directed by Kelly Clifford (80s); Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, reset into St Kilda in the 1920s and directed by Charlotte Hukvari and 'Allo 'Allo the stage spin-off from British cult WWII TV send-up directed by Glenda Maddison. The Company has discount deals for booking 3, 4 or all five shows, with details available at GPAC. From interest shown after the launch, it's advisable to book early.
